Carmen Victor is affiliated with the York/Ryerson Joint Graduate Program in Communication and Culture where she is a PhD candidate (abd). Her research is concerned with contemporary representations of landscape in photography, film and time-based media as sites to integrate aesthetic, cultural and political considerations. She has served on the board of Directors for YYZ Artists’ Outlet/YYZ Books and is a member of Sensorium: Centre for Digital Arts & Technology as well as a current member of the 2017-18 Jackman Humanities Institute working group on Toronto’s Urban Imaginaries at the University of Toronto. Her writing appears in Seismopolite: Journal of Art & Politics, Prefix Photo issues #32, 34 and 35, Dialogue: Canadian Philosophical Review, Culture MachineCiel Variable and Public JournalShe has writing forthcoming in the Journal of Science Fiction Film and Television as well as chapters in edited volumes published by Pleasure Dome (Toronto) and Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art (Sunderland, UK). She is based in Toronto, Canada.
